A Russian media group linked to a close associate of President Vladimir Putin has produced an antigay political ad. The video has sparked widespread criticism for its anti-gay message.

The video ad shows a small boy’s disappointment that his new mother is a makeup-wearing gay-man. Upon observing the interaction between couple and kid, an elderly woman orphanage staff spits in disgust, according to this article.

“Is this the Russia you will choose? Decide the future of the country. Vote for the amendments to the constitution,” a voiceover says at the end of the ad, says the same article.

The video has attracted hundreds of thousands of views online and criticized for its homophobic message, according to the article.
