About

News of the New World publishes verified news from around the world — events that are documented, sourced, and largely absent from mainstream coverage. The site is updated regularly in English and French. Its scope is global. It reports on harmful misinformation and the damage it causes; it does not create or circulate fake news.

The site does not have a beat. It has a filter. A story qualifies when the facts, on their own, produce the outcome the people or institutions involved were meant to prevent — or when the gap between what was said and what was done is wide enough to become the story itself. A state’s anti-cult enforcement chief charged with running a cult of his own. Pastors charged with hiring actors to perform their miracles. Auditors paid to certify the accounts they were sent to inspect. These cases are real. They are the kind of story News of the New World exists to record.

Every article rests on named primary sources — officials, documents, institutional records, named witnesses on the record — and links to them directly. No story runs on anonymous tips alone. Nothing is asserted that the sourced record does not support. Allegations not yet settled in court are reported as allegations, in the conditional.

The site is run by Luc Mercer, a pseudonym. The operator is a retired journalist. Post-employment restrictions bar him from publishing news under his legal name; the pseudonym is the consequence. It is permanent and used across all content. Accountability does not rest on a public identity. It rests on the sourcing standards applied to every article, published in full on the Editorial Standards page.
